Project/Estimating Engineer
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionOur client is currently seeking a motivated Project/Estimating Engineer at the entry to mid-career level who is interested in building a career in heavy civil construction. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn the full project lifecycle-from estimating to project management-under the mentorship of experienced Senior Estimators and Project Managers.
As an Project/Estimating Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the bidding, planning, and management of heavy construction projects.
These projects may include roadways, utilities, water and sewer services, and concrete infrastructure across Delaware and surrounding areas.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Assist with quantity takeoffs, bid preparation, and cost analysis for heavy civil construction projects
*Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop accurate estimates
*Coordinate project schedules, subcontractors, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective completion
*Monitor project progress, address delays or issues, and maintain communication with stakeholders and clients
*Ensure compliance with contract specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle
*Collaborate with the estimating and project management teams to prepare bid proposals
*Once awarded, support project managers in executing and overseeing construction projects
*Track costs, maintain budgets, and ensure compliance with project timelines and safety standards
*Engage with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients during the bidding and execution phases
Qualifications:
*Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (strongly )
*1-3 years of relevant experience in construction or civil engineering
*Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
*Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment
*Experience with construction or engineering project estimating (but not required)
