Job Title: Project Engineering Manager III

Location: Remote mostly- 1 week/month onsite in Schenectady
Duration: May 29, 2026 – May 28, 2027
This is an engineering leadership role, not a traditional project manager position.

We are seeking a Senior Project Engineering Manager to lead the engineering execution of complex energy and power- projects during the execution (Order‐to‐Remittance) phase. This role owns the engineering scope, cost, schedule, and technical risk for projects that include Balance of Plant (BOP) scope.

The ideal candidate is an experienced engineer who can lead cross‐functional teams in a matrix environment, interface directly with customers and partners, and drive projects to successful completion while meeting contractual and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the engineering execution of multiple active projects from contract award through completion
  • Act as the technical project leader, coordinating engineering activities across mechanical, electrical, and process disciplines
  • Develop engineering execution plans, schedules, and scope of work
  • Review customer specifications and ensure compliance with contractual and technical requirements
  • Manage technical risks and identify mitigation strategies
  • Evaluate customer‐requested scope changes, including cost and schedule impacts
  • Serve as the primary technical interface for customer and partner meetings
  • Coordinate closely with project management, sourcing, quality, logistics, and installation teams
  • Support vendors and engineering subcontractors to ensure equipment meets project and customer requirements
  • Enforce engineering quality procedures and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
  • Capture lessons learned and apply feedback to future projects

Team & Collaboration

  • Lead cross‐functional, matrixed engineering teams (typically 10 or fewer team members per project)
  • No direct people management responsibilities; leadership is project‐based
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams, customers, EPC firms, suppliers, and subcontractors

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or a related STEM field
  • 6+ years of relevant industry experience with increasing responsibility
  • Experience leading engineering execution during the project delivery phase
  • Ability to manage engineering budget, schedule, scope, and risk
  • Strong customer‐facing communication and technical leadership skills
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25%

Qualifications

  • Experience in the energy, power , or industrial projects sector
  • Knowledge of Balance of Plant (BOP) systems
  • Expertise in at least one engineering discipline: Mechanical, Electrical, or Process
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical codes and compliance standards
  • Experience working in complex, matrixed, global project environments
