Product Specialist - Field Engineer

Liftra designs, manufacturers, and operates tailor made solutions for the Wind Energy Industry.  At Liftra USA Inc., we focus on product sales, product support, and field services. 

Liftra USA, Inc. is currently seeking a Product Specialist who will be able to support our North American Product Fleet.  This position will require extensive travel for up to 2 years while working within various Product Services Teams; Inspection/Maintenance and Repair, Academy and Product Training, Product Support. You will also be joining our Fields Service team to further familiarize yourself with Liftra’s equipment. Upon satisfactory completion of the first (up to) 2 years across these teams, you will permanently join the Product Services team to assist with Product Support, Advanced Repair and Troubleshooting, and Product Training with less travel required.    

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (first 24 Months)

  • Perform annual inspection and maintenance on a variety of Liftra equipment
  • Operate & Maintain Liftra Self-Hoisting Crane and ancillary equipment to perform gearbox, generator, or main-bearing exchanges on wind turbines.
  • Operate standard power tooling such as power tools, basic hand tools, calibrated torque equipment, electrical tooling and diagnostics equipment.
  • Perform heavy rigging operations to facilitate replacement of wind turbine components
  • Perform disassembly and assembly of large components in excess of 15,000lbs to complete inspections as required.
  • Train and instruct other technicians in how to correctly operate Liftra equipment
  • Assist Liftra Engineering with the continuous development and improvement of all Liftra products
  • Comply with all company and government safety regulations and guidelines
  • Participate in on-the-job training with on-site personnel
  • Report to Crew Supervisor while performing 

Requirements

  • Ability to climb wind turbines up to 110 meters
  • Complete all company required training in a satisfactory manner and timeframe
  • Extensive travel up to 4 weeks at a time
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record and proof of insurance coverage
  • Valid current state license without restrictions
    • No license suspension or restrictions within previous 3 years
    • No DWI/DWA/OWI/OUI etc. within previous 5 years
    • No more than 3 points on the motor vehicle report within the previous 3 years
  • Must be able to pass core safety, climbing and other required training courses
  • Ability to lift-up to 75lbs
  • Ability to use standard Microsoft Office Products.  (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)

Qualifications / Education

  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or relevant field.  
  • Ability to comprehend Mechanical/Electrical/Hydraulic Schematics
  • Competent SolidWorks skills
  • Working knowledge of how PLC’s work
  • PLC programming skills is a plus
  • General programming skills is a plus
