Position Overview:

This role supports the procurement team by managing all overseas import logistics. The position requires strong knowledge of international trade regulations, HTS classification, tariff requirements, and compliance acts. The specialist will coordinate airfreight and ocean freight movements, monitor market conditions, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliant, timely, and cost-effective inbound supply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end import logistics for overseas shipments, including booking, tracking, clearance, and delivery
  • Classify products under applicable HTS codes and maintain accurate documentation for customs entry
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, including tariff rules, antidumping and countervailing duties, and relevant U.S. import laws
  • Oversee compliance with key import regulations applicable to WAMGROUP products, including TSCA for coatings and materials, EPA requirements for dust-collector components, and any other product-specific rules tied to industrial machinery and metal parts.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and carriers to resolve delays, holds, or documentation issues
  • Manage shipment planning for both ocean and airfreight, selecting appropriate carriers, routes, and service levels
  • Analyse freight markets, capacity trends, and carrier performance to support procurement decisions
  • Verify all import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of , SDS, and compliance statements
  • Work with suppliers to ensure shipping instructions, labelling, and packaging meet regulatory and company standards
  • Monitor landed costs and support the procurement team with data for budgeting, cost analysis, and supplier negotiations
  • Maintain accurate records of all imported shipments for audit and compliance purposes
  • Support continuous improvement in import logistics processes, policies, and compliance procedures

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience in international trade, import logistics, procurement, or supply chain
  • Strong understanding of HTS classification and customs requirements
  • Knowledge of international trade regulations including tariffs, Section 301/232, antidumping, TSCA, and other import-specific acts
  • Familiarity with ocean and airfreight operations, major carriers, lanes, schedules, and market dynamics
  • Ability to read and interpret compliance documents and government regulations
  • Strong coordination skills with internal stakeholders, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and government agencies
  • Strong analytical skills for landed cost, freight analysis, and compliance review
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
  • Ability to work under time pressure and manage multiple shipments concurrently

Qualifications:

  • Customs compliance training or certification
  • Experience managing imports for industrial equipment or manufacturing
  • Strong proficiency with SAP MM / SRM (or similar ERP), MS Excel and data‑analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of Incoterms 2020 and international contracting
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
