Process Production Engineer
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionResponsible for monitoring and improving production processes, ensuring safety and compliance, and mentoring junior engineers. This role focuses on enhancing plant performance, reducing costs, and maintaining overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) through various engineering and operational strategies. DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIESØ Monitor and troubleshoot operating conditions, production rate, quality, and yield to support OEE metrics and targets.Ø Propose modifications to the process that improve plant performance and reduce costs.Ø Ensure correct design and installation of new equipment.Ø Execute special process studies, projects, and process safety updates.Ø Propose and implement improvements to production procedures and record keeping.Ø Mentor less-experienced engineers.Ø Develop a functional knowledge of the process by reviewing Training Manuals, SOPs, P&IDs, and other PSI information.Ø Interface with production supervision, technical personnel, maintenance, and operators to leverage operations and process knowledge.Ø Seek out innovative solutions to existing process problems.Ø Read daily shift reports and assist the Production Team in troubleshooting process problems.Ø Plan, coordinate, and carry out plant trials as required.Ø Update process safety information (PSI) records such as P&IDs, equipment information, safety systems, etc.Ø Lead problem-solving exercises using root cause analysis tools and identify corrective and preventive actions.Ø Scope and execute safety compliance action items including MOC actions and PHA revalidation recommendations.Ø Design new vessels, equipment, piping, and containment or evaluate existing installations.Ø Request quotes from vendors for new or replacement vessels, equipment, etc.Ø Work with Project Engineering to scope out new capital projects and coordinate the Production portion.Ø Prepare environmental reports.Ø Participate in safety programs, committees, or teams and conduct safety and housekeeping audits.Ø Complete safety incident investigations and implement corrective actions.Ø Identify occupational and process safety hazards and proactively implement changes to reduce risk. QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTSv BS Chemical Engineering with 10+ years’ experience working in a chemical production facility.v Proven experience in process engineering within a manufacturing environment.v Strong knowledge of process safety management (PSM) and risk management principles.v Experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.v Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as P&IDs and SOPs.v Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
