One of our established clients has an urgent requirement for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to be based at their offices in Cheadle on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to join a diverse engineering company providing expertise to the Process and Industrial sector.
As Senior Mechanical Engineer you will work with a wide range of clients to deliver cost-effective, innovative and practical solutions across the full project life-cycle with focus on concept and FEED stages. Initially, you will be expected to be in the business 5 days a week but this will move to a hybrid approach once settled into your role.
Principal accountabilities
- Working with a Lead Engineer involved in the delivery of large single projects or leading the mechanical aspects on a series of smaller projects depending on experience and ability.
- Ensure the highest standards of HSE and client satisfaction are maintained.
- Working as part of a team to ensure the design and construction is completed and approved in accordance with the time, cost quality parameters.
- Covering all aspects of mechanical engineer including machinery, vessels and piping, including preparation of technical specifications, review of quotations, review of vendor drawings and preparation of design schemes.
- Ensure that all mechanical engineering works are undertaken in accordance with the conditions and requirements of the Contract.
- Attend co-ordination, progress and programme / resource meetings as required.
- Control costs against budget and forecast.

Person Spec:
- Significant engineering and contracting experience in major and minor project environment.
- Highly motivated and confident in working at a detailed level and coordinating major vendor packages.
- Flexible and self-driven, working effectively within a team or alone.
- Experience in leading teams of engineers and designers.
- Engineering Degree.
- Working towards or have Chartered Membership of a recognised institution.
Desirable:
- Major projects experience of £30m upwards.
- Experience in Process Plant, Waste to Energy, Hydrogen and Thermal Industries.
- Design Management experience.
