Principal Engineer - Process Engineering in System Engineering

Vattenfall is one of Europe´s largest electricity generators and producer of heat and operates in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. We are looking for a Principal Engineer – Process Engineering in Systems Engineering to work within our Business Area Wind, Offshore, Engineering.The Engineering department is the technical know-how centre within Business Area Wind, setting the standards and guidelines as well as being embedded within our projects, both through the development and implementation phase as well as in operations.Working within the Systems Engineering Department in Offshore Engineering, the Principal Engineer is the highest Technical Authority for all Hydrogen/ Process Systems Engineering including external stakeholders overseeing the technical competence area. Key Tasks & Responsibilities:As part of the Systems Engineering Department, you will oversee the technical development of our Hydrogen Systems Engineering track, enabling the organization to serve the full lifecycle and portfolio of energy systems with technical excellence.•As highest level of Technical Authority in the field ofHydrogen/ Process engineering you will drive competence development and quality within the area. •You will collaborate closely with the other Principal Engineers within Systems Engineering and in the broader Engineering Function through our Technical Coordination forum.•Support an innovative and entrepreneurial environment and maintains the overview of the competencies needed within the Hydrogen/ Process discipline.•Highest Technical Escalation level across the different Hydrogen Process related areas in Systems Engineering.•Maintains together with the Roadmap Organization an overview of technical activities within the Hydrogen Systems competence area and ensures interaction with other relevant parts of BU Offshore Wind and the broader Vattenfall Organization.•Oversees application and further development of internal process & tools.•Engages in complex and high priority assignments in product development, project delivery or operational assets.•Inspires others by representing the technical field internally to team and externally to industry and institutions (e.g. Universities, Authorities).•Review and approve key technology documents.•Mentor and guide other engineers.•Support in identifying and assessing opportunities improving our business.•Actively promote the technical authority of Engineering in general and within Process Systems Engineering specifically.•Actively propose areas for technical development to support the roadmaps in development projects/areas relevant for Process System Engineering.•Collect and disseminate learnings from internal and external projects by e.g initiating and hosting regular technical exchange forums. •Participate in IPR reviews in the competence area.•Participate in regular technical reviews of ongoing asset projects and larger product projects in the Product Development/ Roadmap organisation.The role requires the following profile:•You have an engineering university degree (M.Sc. or PhD) with a minimum of 15 years relevant work experience within Oil and Gas, Chemical and/ or Process Industry including experience as a manager or chief engineer, or equivalent experience from within the Academic sector.•You have a profound technical understanding of Hydrogen/ Process technologies including water treatment, electrolysis, fuel cells, compression, purification, safety systems, offshore/onshore pipelines, storage, processing plants and associated balance of plant, and can articulate detailed requirements and considerations across all phases in a project lifecycle. •Candidates with a broad Hydrogen/ Process background are sought in this position•Sound knowledge of industry-standard processes and tools used for analysis and simulation of hydrogen/ process plants and transmission systems.•Familiar with applicable design codes, standards and recommended practices.•You command English in both verbal and written form.•You possess a positive mind-set, see opportunities with a “glass half full” approach to your work.•Process Safety is in your DNA •You are a highly motivated by complex environments and tasks and you communicate with enthusiasm and will be a role model for our technical specialists.•You have proven skills in dealing with strategic, highly complex issues, problems and challenges and can transfer technical challenges into economic impact.LocationHamburg, Kolding, London or AmsterdamWe offerWe offer you a challenging and independent job in an informal working environment.
