Position Overview

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the overall reliability, safety, and operational readiness of all production equipment and facilities at the Itasca, IL location. This role leads the maintenance department, develops and administers a comprehensive preventive maintenance program, and ensures that all equipment repair and uptime activities are executed with minimal disruption to production. The Maintenance Manager also owns safety compliance and training for the maintenance function, manages vendor and contractor relationships, and drives continuous improvement in maintenance efficiency and cost control.

Main Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the maintenance team through scheduling, coaching, performance management, and workforce planning.

• Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support production goals.

• Manage equipment repairs, maintenance planning, and reliability tracking, including root cause analysis and performance metrics.

• Maintain spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement activities to ensure critical components and services are available when needed.

• Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards, including training, audits, incident investigations, and lockout/tagout procedures.

• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and reporting through ERP/CMMS systems to track performance and support operational decisions.

• Develop and manage the maintenance budget, control costs, and recommend capital improvements and process efficiencies.

• Manage vendor and contractor relationships, ensuring quality service delivery, cost control, and compliance with safety requirements.

Technical Skills

·       Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, electrical systems, and PLC controls.

·       Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.

·       Proficient with maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and measurement instruments.

·       Familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies such as vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis .

 

Leadership & Interpersonal Skills

·       Proven ability to lead, motivate, develop, and hold maintenance teams accountable.

·       Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

·       Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and prioritization skills in fast-paced manufacturing environments.

·       Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple maintenance initiatives simultaneously.

Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Maintenance Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field ; equivalent education and hands-on experience considered.

Experience working on industrial machinery (CNC, Laser, Brake Press, etc.)

• 5+ years of progressive maintenance management experience within a manufacturing environment.

• Proven experience developing and managing preventive maintenance programs for production equipment.

• Strong leadership experience supervising, coaching, and developing maintenance technician teams.

• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and environmental compliance requirements.

• Experience using ERP and/or CMMS systems for maintenance tracking, inventory management, and reporting.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to operate tools, diagnostic equipment, and perform hands-on maintenance activities.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, lubricants, and cleaning agents.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces as needed.
