Mechanical Design Engineer Job Purpose: Are you passionate about engineering? Do you like to think up, create, design, build, and test new products? Based in Huntsville, AL, SCI Technology’s Mechanical Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our team and shape existing and future products. Working with technology partners, we rapidly develop new products for a wide range of defense, aerospace, and commercial markets. Nature of Duties/Responsibilities: Design planning Innovative mechanical design Rapid prototyping of electro-mechanical systems Developing test plans for design validation Testing systems and subsystems for design validation Documenting design with 2D drawings as well as supporting documentation Technical communication with internal and external customers Education and Experience: BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university. Minimum of 5 years experience in the design of electro-mechanical systems using SolidWorks, PTC Creo, or similar 3D solid modeling CAD software. Experience in 2D drawing generation from solid models is required. Experience in interpreting GD&T and designing using GD&T is preferred. Experience in electrical cable design is desired. Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for both structural analysis and vibration analysis using FEMAP and NASTRAN or other similar simulation software is desired. Thermal and Computational Fluid Dynamics experience using FloEFD or other similar simulation software is desired.
