Job Description
Company is a well-established manufacturer with over 120 years in the gear manufacturing industry. The company specializes in custom; high-speed gearboxes used in automotive and aerospace testing applications. All manufacturing is performed in-house, including gears, shafts, and bearings. Company is experiencing growth and will soon relocate from its current facility in Beloit to a larger 68,000 sq. ft. location in Janesville.
Position Summary:
This is a highly specialized Mechanical Design Engineer role requiring deep expertise in gearbox and gear design. The position involves working closely with the Engineering Manager and other engineers on custom product development and in-house manufacturing support. The work is approximately 50%–75% desk-based, with regular time spent on the production floor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop custom gearboxes and gear components
- Generate detailed models and drawings using Pro-E / Creo software
- Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing and engineering teams
- Support floor activities and troubleshoot as needed
- Engage with legacy and custom designs (some may have prior design base to reference)
Candidate Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
- Minimum of 5 years experience in mechanical design, preferably 7+ years
- Strong background in gearbox and gear design
- Proficiency in Pro-E (Creo)
- Ability to work independently; no direct reports

- Flexible and willing to support both design and shop-floor activities
- Comfortable in a smaller company setting with hands-on involvement
