The Manager, Automation & Power will lead the efforts for Pilot Water Solutions with the opportunity to grow a team to current business needs and strategize for future growth. This role involves managing a team of electrical, instrumentation, metering field technicians, and control room ensuring compliance with safety standards, and optimizing the performance of salt water disposal facilities and pipelines. You will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of automation controls, instrumentation, metering, and electrical systems and power distribution networks within the organization. This person will lead and provide multidisciplinary support, field supervision, project coordination and general expertise regarding metering, instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA systems and operating a control room. Compensation commensurate with experience. This role will report directly to the VP Operations and would ideally be based in Midland, Texas with possibility to be out of Houston, Texas with expected travel to other company sites and areas of operations.

Lead, mentor, and develop field teams in automation, electrical, measurement, and the control room.
Manage the daily activities of the automation, power and electrical, and control room teams, including work assignments, performance evaluations, and professional development.
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment
Project Management:
Oversee the design, planning, and execution of automation, instrumentation, and electrical projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
Coordinate with other departments, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources.
Collaborates with project teams to understand requirements and provide automation expertise.
Electrical System Management:
Ensure the reliability and efficiency of electrical systems and power distribution networks.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical issues in a timely manner.
Implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the life of electrical equipment.
Performs final acceptance testing/checkouts- point to point checkout of electrical and control systems.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure all automation, instrumentation, electrical systems and installations comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
Develop and enforce safety protocols for the automation and power team.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
Prepare and manage the budget for the automation, instrumentation, and electrical power department.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and energy efficiency improvements.
Approve expenditures and manage vendor relationships.
Automation and Technical Expertise:
Provide technical guidance and support to the automation, electrical team and other departments.
Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulations.
Lead the evaluation and implementation of new technologies and systems.
Designs and develops open architecture automation system using PLCs.
Develops and implements projects using Ignition and other 3rd party SCADA for monitoring and control.
Creates loop check documentation and facility hand off documentation.
Establishes historian in SCADA and assimilate the data acquired to trend equipment performance.
Provides field support to determine system malfunctions and apply corrective actions.
Adds end devices and associated comms to existing systems.
Provides services to upgrade plc systems.
Generates scope, interface and engage with Vendor community to implement new SCADA systems.
Leads efforts to carry out FATs and SATs
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of automation, instrumentation, and electrical systems, projects, and maintenance activities.
Prepare regular reports on system performance, project status, and departmental metrics.
Present findings and recommendations to senior management.
Participates in other assigned duties and projects based on business needs.
Leads SCADA layout and conversion.
Provides technical support and training to end-users and team members.

Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years of field experience in automation, instrumentation, and electrical power management.
Minimum 3 years of Supervisory experience leading teams of field technicians, programmers and operators, and experience in managing automation, instrumentation and electrical projects.
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science or related field.
Experience managing projects and implementations.
Worked as a programmer in PLC and SCADA Systems.
Worked as a systems integrator using Ignition, Wonderware, Simatic, iFIX and or Intellution.
Participated in PHAs, HAZOPs and PSSRs
Strong working knowledge of automation, instrumentation, electrical systems, power distribution, and control systems.
Proficiency in using electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP).
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., NEC, NFPA, IEEE).
Experience utilizing Maximo or equivalent enterprise asset management (EAM) and computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) solution.
Strong leadership, communication, and team management
Skills to adapt in a fast-paced environment where change is constant.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Able to travel to various field sites.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification
Knowledge and application of various communication protocols including Modbus, Profibus, etc.
Knowledge of various metering applications and technologies
Physical Requirements
Standard office environment with occasional time in the field.
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
Must be able to work in high pressure situations and meet tight deadlines.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be deemed insurable by the Company’s insurance provider.
