Craftsmen Contractors is hiring experienced Maintenance Industrial Mechanics for the Minden, La. area. This job is responsible for repairing and performing maintenance on machinery and mechanical equipment. These are temp-to-permanent positions for an industrial plant. Will need to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, working day shifts. You may have to work every other Saturday. Weekly pay by direct deposit.

Pay rate: $23 - $35/hour depending on experience.

No per diem is offered.

Job Duties:

• Conduct daily checks on all concrete-producing equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Makes repairs to all mechanical devices. This includes gearboxes, conveyor belts, motor removal and replacement, bearing changes, etc.
• Performs routine lubrication duties as scheduled in the maintenance software.
• Help monitor moving parts for the correct wear pattern.
• Work with the production employees to ensure an efficient and smooth operation.
• Monitors moving parts for proper wear pattern.
• Perform other duties as required by the crew leader or supervisor. This may include helping the building and grounds crews or electricians, etc.
• Run heavy equipment, rebuild motors, and work on small engines.
• Basic cleaning and housekeeping duties.

Job Requirements:

• 2-5 years of previous maintenance/industrial mechanic experience. Experience operating heavy equipment
• Experience rebuilding motors
• Experience working on small engines
• Pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen before being hired.
• Do a face-to-face job interview.
• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Must pass forklift certification test.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Must possess a mechanical aptitude.
• Be familiar with belts, bearings, pulleys, chains, sprockets, etc.
• Be familiar with most hand tools and common power tools.
• Must be knowledgeable of bearing plates, and hydraulic presses, gearboxes, and speed reducers.
• Good judgment and attention to detail.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and assimilate information.
• Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships and interact effectively with all levels of employees.
• Will have to wear personal protective equipment, such as protective eyewear and steel-toed boots, and be exposed to seasonal temperatures throughout the year.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• The job requires standing for short periods of time while working on mechanical equipment, and also stooping or crouching regularly when working with mechanical equipment, and bending at the waist and legs
• Be able to climb a stepladder to work on mechanical equipment in some places.
• Ability to lift 20 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally when working with mechanical
• equipment and tools on the job.
• Be on call 24/7.
• Carry objects such as ladders or parts from the warehouse.
• Ability to work in various environments. Exposed to such hazardous conditions as extreme noise levels.
• Be able to weld and use a torch.
• Must be mentally focused and detailed.
• Able to work well with tools such as drills, lathes, mills, etc.
• Must have a good understanding of and the ability to troubleshoot hydraulic systems.
