Maintenance Engineer – Backshift

 

Location: Witney, Oxfordshire

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week (Monday to Friday)

Work Type: On-site with hybrid working available

Salary: Competitive + Car Allowance/Company Car + Bonus Scheme

The Role

As a Maintenance Engineer (Backshift), you’ll be a key part of the manufacturing team, ensuring that automated systems and machinery operate efficiently and reliably. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you’ll lead the execution of a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme and respond to issues quickly to minimise downtime and maintain production targets.

Key Responsibilities



Deliver and maintain the PPM programme using the CMMS system (FIIX)

Ensure all plant, machinery, and buildings are maintained to meet production and safety standards

Manage and oversee approved maintenance contractors

Troubleshoot and resolve issues with minimal disruption to production

Support the introduction of new products and manufacturing techniques (CIP/5S)

Maintain compliance with PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, and other H&S regulations

Work with robotics, cobotics, and machine communication protocols (Ethercat, Ethernet, Profibus, etc.)  

About You



Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Electrician or Fitter in a production environment

Recognised qualifications in a relevant core trade

Experience with PLC fault diagnosis and automated manufacturing systems

Strong understanding of machine networking and communication protocols

Comfortable working independently and as part of a team

IPAF MEWP Licence (Type 3A & 3B)

Data-driven decision-making and problem-solving skills
