Immediate Hiring: Low Voltage Technicians – Travel Work (ND, SD, NE)

Start Date: January 5th, 2026 | Benson Electric

 

Benson Electric is immediately seeking skilled and motivated Low Voltage Technicians for prevailing-wage travel projects across North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska. Work includes demo of existing systems, installation of new low-voltage infrastructure, and support on large-scale federal projects.

 

Position Overview

**Must have clean background and be able to complete a federal background check to be eligible for this position. **

Technicians will support the installation, upgrade, and testing of various low-voltage systems including:

- Fire Alarm Systems

- Access Control & Card Readers

- Security Cameras (CCTV)

- Low-Voltage Cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/Fiber)

 

Key Responsibilities

- Perform demo of old cabling and devices; install new wiring, conduit, and system components

- Install, terminate, test, and label low-voltage cabling

- Pull cable, fish conduit through raceways, walls, and doors

- Bend and install EMT conduit — conduit bending experience strongly recommended

- Install devices such as cameras, card readers, door hardware, fire alarm appliances, control modules, and panels

- Read and interpret blueprints, risers, wiring diagrams, and follow specifications

- Execute installations accurately based on drawings and field conditions

- Create red-line as-builts to document field changes

- Report field changes to supervisors promptly

- Troubleshoot low-voltage systems, opens, shorts, and ground conditions.

- Work collaboratively and independently

- Responsible for updating the team lead on the status of all work performed daily

- Maintain strong communication and follow safety procedures

- Ability to understand the workload ahead of time and plan materials and tasks accordingly and in an organized manner.

 

/Required Qualifications

- Must be able to pass a federal background check

- Experience in low-voltage cabling (fire alarm, access control, CCTV)

- Competency in troubleshooting low-voltage systems

- Ability to bend conduit and install raceways

- Ability to read blueprints and execute installation accurately

- Ability to produce current and clear red-line as-builts

- Strong communication skills

- Must be able to work at heights, off a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds

- Proficiency with hand and power tools, basic software, and technical documentation.

- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel

 

Compensation

- Prevailing wage (rate varies by county)

- Travel per diem and lodging expenses provided.

 

 

 

Experience Requirements

We are seeking individuals with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in low-voltage or electrical systems. Applicants should demonstrate a deep understanding of the job scope, including system layout, device installation, conduit routing, blueprint reading, and proper documentation. We are looking for professionals who can take full ownership of their work, identify field issues, troubleshoot effectively, and communicate clearly with supervisors and project managers.
