We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Low Voltage Electrical Designer with 3- 5 years of experience in the construction industry. The role focuses on designing and coordinating low voltage systems including structured cabling, fire alarm, access control, security, audiovisual (AV), and building automation. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of construction processes, codes, and standards, and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams to deliver integrated and efficient system designs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design low voltage systems: data/voice cabling, CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, fire alarm, intercom, AV, and building automation.
- Create construction drawings and details using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Coordinate designs with electrical, mechanical, architectural, and structural teams.
- Prepare riser diagrams, device layouts, schedules, and one-line diagrams.
- Perform system load calculations and device placement planning.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 72, BICSI, EIA/TIA, and ADA standards.
- Review RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings during construction.
- Attend coordination meetings, site visits, and inspections as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Low Voltage Design, or related field OR equivalent experience.
- 3- 5 years of low voltage design experience in construction.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit MEP is strongly .
- Familiarity with TIA/EIA, BICSI, NFPA 72, NEC.
- Working knowledge of structured cabling, fire alarm, security, AV, and access control.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, MEP, and system drawings.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
(Not Required):
- BICSI (RCDD) or NICET certification in fire alarm/low voltage.
- Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection.
- Knowledge of Division 27/28 specifications.
- Familiarity with LEED, WELL, or sustainable low voltage design.
