Principal / Lead Electrical Engineer - Hydrogen FEED Project
Location: Manchester (Hybrid)
Contract Length: 12 months (initial)
Rate: Circa £65/hour

We are seeking an experienced Principal or Lead Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team on a cutting-edge Hydrogen FEED project. This is a client-facing role, ideal for a technically strong and commercially aware professional who thrives in delivering high-quality work and leading complex projects.

About the Role:
As a Principal / Lead Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leading the electrical discipline within a high-performing engineering team. This is a strategic opportunity to shape a high-profile hydrogen energy project at the forefront of the UK's energy transition.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership and discipline input on electrical engineering matters across FEED stages.
Lead and manage work allocation within the team, ensuring timely delivery against project schedules.
Deliver and oversee high-quality electrical design and documentation aligned with relevant codes, legislation, and client standards.
Prepare technical documents including:
Equipment specifications and material requisitions (e.g. HV/LV switchboards, transformers, UPS, VFDs, motors, power factor correction, trace heating, lighting).
Installation scopes of work.
Supplier quotation reviews and technical bid evaluations.
Interface directly with clients and represent the discipline in project meetings.
Key Experience & Competencies:
Experience in the following is essential:
HV system design (up to 33kV)
Protection system design (schematics, grading studies, setting schedules)
Large-scale electrical network design and integration
Earthing system design and calculations
Power system analysis (fault level, load flows)
Specifying equipment for hazardous areas
Qualifications:
Degree in Electrical / Electronic / Control Engineering (or related discipline). Apprenticeship routes may be considered.
Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or working toward it) with a recognised professional institution.
