AECOM is actively seeking an Intermediate Engineer / Junior Project Manager to join our growing Western Canada remediation and reclamation team in Alberta. Job Description: Work will vary pending the applicants experience and career aspirations. This position is ideally suited to an intermediate engineer with aspirations to develop into a project manager. This position will primarily shadow acting project managers as a deputy project manager on large ($100k - $5M project budget) multidisciplinary engineering projects in the following focus areas - mine reclamation; civil works; remediation implementation; and waste infrastructure. Deputy project manager responsibilities include: Technical and quality coordination. Proposal and scope change writing. Scope and budget tracking. Collaborating and coordinate work with peers from the environment business, peers from other engineering disciplines, clients, contractors, and sub-consultants. Invoicing. Additionally, there are opportunities for candidates who would like to continue to build their technical background to have access to training and careers opportunities if of interest. The role at AECOM will be a combination of project management and technical work delivery. Technical work that could be made available is: Develop technical solutions as part of a design team, assist senior staff with the design and evaluation of engineering applications from options assessment to detailed design phases. Prepare, coordinate and participate in field programs required to collect and analyze outstanding data gaps for design advancement; both office and field duties. Prepare documentation for design projects: technical letters, memorandums, reports, drawing packages, and detailed design packages. Prepare project specifications [in National Master Specification (NMS) format], contract documents, construction packages, and cost estimates. Perform construction supervision, administration, and monitoring, including contract close out and reporting; both office and field duties. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline; Civil, Geotechnical, Environmental etc. 4+ years of related experience within civil and/or environmental engineering field. Valid driver's license. Willing to travel to Canada’s northern territories for short periods. Preferred Qualifications Registered Professional Engineer or Geoscientist in Canada (or eligible for licensing) 6+ years of technical experience with exposure to some of the following fields: Northern remediation design projects; environmental assessment, environmental engineering, and civil engineering. Waste management including landfill cell design, planning and reporting. Remedial option assessment, implementation, system operation and maintenance. Coordination of designs with drafting teams and/or personal proficiency with AutoCAD. Technical writing and preparing technical documents, such as reports. Experience working with, or composing, regulatory documents. Experience with coordination: Provided support to senior staff on multi-disciplinary projects to coordinate project deliverables. Proposal development and change management. Safety and logistics coordination for field programs. Quality management: demonstrated ability to follow internal processes and help projects be compliant. Personal Attributes: Highly developed written communication, time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills; conduct with integrity, work within multi-disciplined teams, deal with complex issues, and maintain effective working relationships. A high level of initiative and enthusiasm for getting things done. Additional Information: Sponsorship is not available for this position.
