Job Description
Battersea (Hybrid remote work available) Salary: 40,00045,000 + benefits \n Were looking for a Backup Engineer to keep our customers mission-critical data protected, recoverable, and compliant so they can sleep at night. Youll monitor, maintain, and continuously improve our managed Backup as a Service (BaaS) environments, resolving incidents quickly and proactively preventing recurrences. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys troubleshooting across OS, application and network layers, and who communicates clearly with customers and colleagues.
\n\n Diagnose and resolve backup failures across Windows Server, virtualisation platforms, applications (e.g. MS SQL, Exchange, SharePoint) and networks (TCP/IP, routing, firewalls). \n Advise customers on backup best practice, retention and recovery testing; Manage multiple cases concurrently in the service desk, providing timely updates and excellent customer communication.
\n Collaborate with Sales/Account Management on feasibility questions and with Ops/Engineering on platform improvements. \n Join the on-call rota (after onboarding) to support out-of-hours incidents. \n\n 35 years experience in technical support/operations with a strong focus on backup, recovery or data protection (managed services experience a plus).
\n~ Solid knowledge in at least one of: Windows Server/Active Directory, VMware/Hyper-V, Microsoft SQL Server, Exchange, SharePoint. \n~ Comfortable with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, VPNs) and diagnosing connectivity/performance issues impacting backups. \n~ Confident communicator who can explain complex issues in plain English to technical and non-technical audiences.
\n~ Incident troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across OS, application and network layers. \n Experience with monitoring, ticketing and documentation tools; Strong teamworkpartners effectively across Service Desk, Engineering, Sales and Customer teams. \n Willingness to learn, share knowledge and ask for help when needed.
