Position Title: Instrumentation and Automation Engineer 

Location: RM Office Assago (Italy)

Report to jacket Engineering coordinator, responsible for implementation of operation philosophy assured transferred to the design, implementation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and automation systems used to monitor and control oil and gas processes. This role ensures process safety, operational efficiency, and compliance with industry standards across all phases of the project lifecycle, tasks are summarized as follows . 

General Description of Role and Responsibilities [ but not limited to ]: 

Design & Engineering 

  • Review and consent the development and review specifications for field instrumentation (pressure, flow, level, temperature, analytical instruments). 
  • Review and consent to design and configured automation systems including DCS, PLC, SCADA, SIS, and ESD systems. 
  • Prepare Instrument Index, I/O lists, loop diagrams, wiring schematics, and control philosophy documents. 
  • Review and consent to selected instruments and control valves based on process requirements. 
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards (IEC, ISA, API, ISO, NEC, NEMA, ATEX). 

Project Execution & Procurement 

  • Review and evaluate vendor documents, instrument data sheets, and automation packages. 
  • Participate in FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), SAT (Site Acceptance Testing), and system integration testing. 
  • Coordinate with EPC contractors, vendors, and site teams during construction and commissioning phases. 
  • Ensure instrumentation and automation deliverables meet quality and schedule requirements. 

Installation, Commissioning & Start-Up 

  • Supervise installation of field instruments, control panels, and automation cabinets. 
  • Perform instrument loop checks, function tests, and calibration of field devices. 
  • Assist in the start-up and troubleshooting of control systems. 
  • Ensure all systems operate safely and according to design specifications. 

Operations Support & Maintenance 

  • Provide technical support for instrumentation and automation systems during operations. 
  • Identify and resolve system malfunctions, sensor failures, or signal loss issues. 
  • Optimize control loops and automation logic to enhance performance. 
  • Maintain documentation including P&IDs, loop drawings, cause-and-effect charts, and maintenance records. 

Skills & Competencies 

  • Proficient in control system architecture: DCS (e.g., Yokogawa, Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell), PLC (Siemens, Allen-Bradley), and SCADA platforms. 
  • Strong knowledge of field instruments, communication protocols (HART, Modbus, Profibus), and control strategies (PID, cascade, ratio control). 
  • Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and intrinsic safety requirements. 
  • Effective problem-solving, planning, and coordination skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interface with multidisciplinary teams. 

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Bachelor Degree from an accredited university. 
  • Work experience of five (5) years in the sought discipline after earning the university degree. 
  • Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of offshore experience in total, with at least the last 3-5 years spent on offshore projects. 
  • Excellent spoken and written English including proven ability to write reports.
