Job Title: Installer Technician
Location: [Chicago, IL 20-25%] (75-80% Travel Required)
Position Type: Full-Time
***techs receive an additional $5-8/hr to their base rate for every hour spent at a customer site. So if they get to a site in the morning and spend 10 hours at a customer site and their hourly rate is $32.90/hr, they would receive $42.90/hr for those 10 hours. BIG INCENTIVE!***

As an Installer Technician, you will play a crucial role in the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of our specialized equipment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform installation and commissioning of equipment, ensuring optimal functionality.
- Respond to larger breakdowns, providing efficient maintenance and repair solutions.
- Collaborate with the machine testing group for in-plant work and assist in on-site customer visits to demo machinery.
- Demonstrate a strong foundational understanding of both electrical and mechanical maintenance.
- Handle high-pressure situations in front of customers, maintaining composure and professionalism.
- Utilize electrical troubleshooting skills, including PLC troubleshooting and programming (a plus).
- Work with voltages ranging from 120v to 480v and read electrical schematics.
- Demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and assemble machinery based on blueprints.
- Travel up to 80%, ensuring timely and effective service to our clients.
- Deliver presentations with excellent communication and presentation skills.
Qualifications:
Preferred:
- B.S. or A.A.S. or Certifications in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related applied hands-on degree.
- 3-5+ years of experience preferred; entry-level candidates accepted with a degree or certificate in automation or technology.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience with PLCs (programming is a plus).
- Working knowledge of voltages from 120v up to 480v and experience reading electrical schematics.
- Solid mechanical aptitude with the ability to read blueprints and assemble machinery.
Required:
- Willingness to travel up to 80% - CRITICAL!
- Excellent presentation skills and the ability to handle high-pressure situations.
Pluses:
- Experience with the installation, maintenance, repair, and commissioning of capital equipment.
- Knowledge of automation technologies, including conveyors, robots, etc.
- PLC Programming experience – certificates or hands-on experience editing PLC Logic.
