Description :Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Utilities Inspector to join our team!Responsibilities:The Utilities Inspector under general supervision, performs difficult and sometimes complex inspection tasks. Inspects various facets of work on the construction site and performs continuous surveillance of assigned construction activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications. Documents non-conformance and may participate in determining appropriate resolution. Keeping records of work carried out in the field. Reporting non-compliance to the Site Engineer. Keeping field records of site resources.Advising Site Engineer of any site events that are likely to impede progress or cause non-compliance.Keeping Safety Engineer informed of risky activities and non-compliance in the field.Accept approved requests for inspection from the Site Engineer and attend the site to witness tests to ensure compliance with the specification.Checking contractor's materials on site and proper storage and handling on site.Provides general inspection on all construction labor and subcontracted tasks to ensure professional workmanship.Participates in the development of quality control reports and proceduresParticipates in the development of job safety practices and in the preparation of safety reports.Maintains office files related to the project, quantity calculations and writes daily diaries.Prepares daily reports and other documentation, as required by the contractVerifies that only approved materials are incorporated in the work.Performs labor compliance interviews and maintains as-built plans.Recognizes potential conflicts, issues and problems, and reports to supervisor with proposed solution.May provide technical guidance to lower-level inspectors.Coordinates work of subconsultants for surveying and material testing.Reports on installed quantities to verify applications for payment and change order work.Responds to the call backs in case of emergency at the project site.Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSDegree in Civil Engineering with minimum 7 years relevant experience in utilities such as foul sewer, water, sewage, telephone, electrical works in roads and highways projects.Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications and be thoroughly familiar with construction-related processes related to the area of assignment.Knowledge of English grammar and composition, the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; to follow oral and written instructions, prepare written messages and simple charts and graphs.Capability to perform math calculation in order to prepare engineering calculations, graphs and charts.Proficiency with basic computer usage, Microsoft Office, Project Management Software and internet search engines (like Google or equivalent).Ability to comply with multitude of requirements as applicable to the project based on client and industry standards.Must have thorough understanding of scheduling, and the ability to review progress pay estimates and extra work bills.Must be able to recognize hazardous work conditions and take action if necessary.Minimum Clearance Required to Start:Not Applicable/NoneParsons is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
