We are seeking a committed Initial Stock Procurement Buyer to be based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and work on a contract, until July of 2026 
with the possibility of extension.





Job Description:


Manages the procurement of technical goods and services, ensuring they meet specific technical requirements, quality standards, and cost-effectiveness. This role involves sourcing, negotiating, and managing suppliers, while also contributing to cost reduction, risk mitigation, and supply chain optimization.





Technical Goods categories are mainly: Mechanical material or components as pump, agitator, lifting equipment’s, Electrical equipment’s and components, Low voltage and medium voltage, piping bulk material, industrial instrumentation and control system equipment and components, and telecom systems equipment and components.





Accountabilities:




  • Sourcing and Procurement: Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing the purchase of technical components, equipment, and services.
  • Supplier Management: Developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, monitoring their performance, and ensuring they meet quality, delivery, and cost requirements.
  • Cost Management: Identifying cost-saving opportunities, negotiating favourable pricing and payment terms, and implementing strategies to reduce overall procurement costs.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensuring that purchased goods and services meet the required technical specifications and quality standards, collaborating with the quality department on supplier development.
  • Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating potential supply chain risks, such as material shortages, price fluctuations, and disruptions in the supply chain.
  • Technical Expertise: Possessing a strong understanding of the technical aspects of the goods and services being procured, enabling effective communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of all procurement activities, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier performance data.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Working closely with other departments, such as Logistics, Operations, HSE, and quality, to ensure seamless procurement processes and support new product introduction.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities to improve procurement processes, enhance efficiency, and optimize supply chain performance.



Qualifications and Required Experience:



  • Professional experience: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Contracts & Procurement, Business or other field with related to the SD with (ideally 5+ years) experience.



Technical competencies:



  • Organization, communication, reporting, documentation management and Office 365 skills are essential. Specific expertise in working with Excel, PowerPoint, Word documents is mandatory.
  • Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make informed decisions. ERP proficiency; Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.



Behavioural Competencies:


Ability to work in a multi-cultural and fast-moving business setting, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. : Fluent in English: speaking, writing.





Context and Environment:


The job holder takes direction from the Contracts and Procurement Manager and works closely with the Tanzania and Uganda Branch team.





Job holder will be company representative in a procurement workflow managed by a CONTRACTOR. Job holder will act to support and control the procurement according COMPANY rules. The nature of the duties requires a person with a high degree of business ethics as there will be confidential information handled daily.





The service holder is also accountable for demonstrating exemplary behaviour with regard to HSE rules & requirements and for implementing and controlling HSE rules for all planning related activities.
