About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive HR Compliance & Payroll Projects Specialist to join their team. This role is pivotal in ensuring regulatory compliance, driving process improvements, and enhancing employee engagement across pay and leave matters. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, IT, and HR teams to deliver sustainable solutions and support workforce education.
Key Responsibilities
1. Regulatory Compliance and Technical Expertise
- Interpret and apply employment legislation including the Fair Work Act, WA Long Service Leave Act, and relevant Enterprise Agreements
- Support audit and remediation projects to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes such as payday superannuation and assess impact
- Act as the HR subject matter expert for pay and leave policies and benefits
2. Change and Project Management
- Lead process improvement initiatives and system enhancements across platforms such as Workday, ServiceNow, and Power Apps
- Collaborate with Legal, Finance, and IT to resolve systemic issues and implement sustainable solutions
- Ensure alignment with policy and reduce manual interventions
3. Employee Communication and Engagement
- Respond to employee queries with clarity and empathy, ensuring understanding of entitlements and processes
- Develop and deliver communications on policy changes, audit outcomes, and benefit updates
- Partner with HRBPs and leaders to support workforce education and engagement
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven ability to manage projects and support change initiatives across cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on employee experience and stakeholder engagement
- Experience in payroll operations within a complex organisational environment (resources sector experience highly desirable)
- Strong understanding of Australian employment and payroll legislation and industrial instruments
- Proficiency in Workday, payroll systems, and data analysis tools including Microsoft Excel
