Graduate Environmental Scientist

Job Summary

Delivering a better world.

At AECOM we’re driven by a common purpose to deliver a better world. Our clients count on us to think without limits and we partner with them on projects spanning transportation, buildings, water, governments, public realm, energy and the environment, to build legacies for generations to come.

Graduates – with their fresh thinking and passion for reimagining what’s possible – are critical to our success. We are excited to be seeking applicants from a wide range of disciplines, including civil, electrical, environmental, mechanical, structural and building services, as well as design, planning and program and cost management fields.

Ideas have no borders and this ethos is embedded in our culture. As a graduate, you will have the chance to work alongside like-minded professionals and industry leaders on iconic projects that help shape and connect our cities and communities.

Our environmental services help industrial and public sector clients around the world balance growth with resiliency — achieving compliance and reducing, or eliminating, risks while protecting our natural environment. We work closely with clients and communities to solve the most complex environmental challenges throughout the business life cycle: asset development, operations optimization, integrated products, and restoration and reuse.

As a Graduate Environmental Scientist you will form part of a growing team of experienced and motivated environmental professionals delivering technical studies and impact assessment projects, including botanical and ecological field surveys, monitoring, data validation, reporting, writing of management plans and undertaking impact assessments and permitting. From drones to interactive and web-based applications, our experts are committed to the adoption of leading-edge technology and continual improvement. Our collaborative, innovative approach contributes to successful energy, industrial, transportation and government projects around the world. We partner with clients to anticipate and address permit requirements early in the project design to develop and implement proactive strategies.

Our Graduate Program

Our Growing Professional Skills (GPS) graduate program is designed to help you bridge the gap between formal education and the workplace. The program is spread across two years, drawing on a range of personal development activities, exposure to other graduates and business leaders, and a range of topics designed to grow your business and professional skills, so you become Business Ready.

Along with local site visits, technical seminars, and internal and external training, AECOM connects you with local and global teams to source knowledge and experience, which creates an invaluable network that helps you learn, grow, and develop your professional skills.

As an added incentive, your involvement in the GPS program is fully endorsed for those seeking Professional accreditation. If you decide to do additional studies, we will help you examine your options and identify areas of specialisation to support you in your career.
