Graduate Design Engineer

About the Role:
RETAIND are currently looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Design Engineer to join a motivated team and develop their skills in a dynamic and supportive environment in a permanent, full-time position.
This role is perfect for a recent graduate with a passion for design, creativity and problem solving.
You will work closely with experienced design engineers, contributing to real projects while learning the full product development process from concept to production.
This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop your expertise and take the first steps into a rewarding design career.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Assist in the creation of CAD models, drawings and prototypes under the guidance of senior designers.
* Support the design team in concept development and research and development.
* Participate in design reviews and take feedback to improve skills.
* Stay current with emerging technologies, materials and design methods.
* Contribute fresh ideas and creative solutions to design challenges.
* Continuously build technical skills and knowledge of design tools and processes.
* Take ownership of smaller tasks, gradually increasing responsibility.
* Build a design library with the help of AI software.
* Prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects while ensuring high-quality outcomes.
* Collaborate with sales and operations teams to support the product development process.
* Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and customer meetings.
* Willingness to travel within the UK and Europe as the needs of the business dictate to assist in providing onsite technical support.
* Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Key Skills and Experience Required:
* Proficiency in CAD software, specifically SolidWorks.
* A recent Degree in Engineering is advantageous but not necessarily essential
* Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Basic understanding of engineering principles, materials and manufacturing processes.
* Eagerness to learn and apply creative solutions to design challenges.
* An experienced and enthusiastic user of AI software.
* Motivation to grow professionally.
* Ability to quickly absorb in-depth product knowledge.
* Strong communication skills.
* Strong organisational and time management skills to handle multiple projects.
* Attention to detail.
* Collaborative and team-oriented with a focus on teamwork.
* Willingness to travel when required.
