Job Description

Our Client is an Energy Trading business based in London, producing and trading oil, gas, LNG, and environmental credits, while also investing in low-carbon technologies. Its commercial activities involve engaging with global energy markets and supporting industrial operations with energy supply and market expertise.


The business is growing and evolving as it expands into new areas of the energy landscape. Operational responsibilities include managing daily gas flows across regional networks and coordinating with commercial teams to maintain accurate market positions.


Reporting directly to the Team Lead, the successful candidate will be responsible for accurate daily nominating and scheduling gas positions across various European hubs, grids and pipelines and liaise with Traders to update and monitor position as appropriate.


RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Responsible for accurate daily nominating and scheduling gas positions across various European hubs, grids and pipelines including UK, Germany, Netherlands, and Belgium within deadlines
  • Booking/re-booking capacity to ensure portfolio capacity requirements are met. Some involvement in long-term bookings
  • Daily confirmation and reconciliation of beach swap volumes
  • Update and monitor positions and liaise with Trading team
  • Resolve mismatches to ensure all nominations are matched on an hourly and daily basis avoiding imbalances
  • Update CVA website with beach delivery data. Review with counterparts and resolve any issues
  • Trade support – trade capture and reconciliation in ETRM
  • Settlements support – where required, assist with invoice reconciliations
  • Confirmations – assist with confirmation of trades and reconciliation
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, regulatory and shipper licence obligations.ad here to internal risk policies and update systems and processes as required
  • Assist in setting up new business – counterparties, hubs, products, short-haul, supply to sites and changing market operations
  • Support and advise wider teams to provide end to end operations for trading
  • Ad-hoc requests from different business functions
  • Perform UAT (User Acceptance Testing) as necessary for upgrades and project work


SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION


  • Achieve high levels of accuracy with all work produced and be detail orientated
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Experience coding in Python, or another Object-Orientated Programming is advantageous
  • Undergraduate degree in maths, economics or related discipline
  • Previous experience working within a physical gas or energy trading environment.
  • Strong understanding of daily scheduling controls/processes/procedures and end-to-end trade lifecycle.
  • Good understanding of European gas transmission systems and balancing rules is preferable
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office. VBA
  • Experience setting up new markets, products, and systems would be advantageous
  • Knowledge and understanding of Gas storage, Power or LNG would be
  • Awareness and basic understanding of programming
  • Knowledge of another European would be an advantage
  • Experience of supplying/invoicing end users in UK and Continent
  • Carbon Emissions experience (EUA/UKA)
  • Candidates must be available to be on-call evenings and weekends on rotation
