SUMMARYThe Field Technician uses defined procedures to pick-up samples and delivers kits to client locations.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMaintain courteous relationships with clients. Pickup and delivery to client locations. Fill out sample submission forms, label supplies before placing in coolers or delivering to clients. Be able to meet client sample hold times. Receive samples from customers and log them into LIMS Ensure samples are properly stored Check and record sample condition, inform project manager or client, if necessary, of any discrepancies. Delivering kits to clients and document transfer of client coolers for traceability. Prepare kits and arrange shipping. Maintain an organized inventory of received samples, coolers and supplies. Assure that the housekeeping in work areas is adequate to prevent contamination of samples and to minimize fire and bio-safety hazards. Perform various written procedures to collect, sample, analyze and pick-up samples for analysis. Perform field sample analysis for temperatures, pH and chlorine. Maintain standard operating procedure (SOP) for field sampling to include sampling and procedures for temperatures, pH, and chlorine. Properly label samples with unique identifiers to ensure traceability. Maintain records of calibrations and drivers log. Ensure documentation of lot numbers for traceability. Ensure the sampling equipment and sampling technique is adequate to prevent cross contamination of samples and to minimize fire and safety hazards. Be able to communicate with team members and clients to ensure proper sampling or collection. Perform tasks and maintain records as assigned by supervisor, QA, or management. Be able to understand and follow FDA, USDA protocols and procedures. Take a HACCP course and assist in sampling. Ensure that all work is generated in compliance with policies and the AGT Plan. Provide the QA Manager, Laboratory Manager, Supervisor and/or Project Manager with immediate notification of quality problems. Ensure maintenance of company vehicle is up to date.

CHARACTERISTICS-The Field Technician must have good personal habits, work well with others, be technically conscientious, be able to stay on task and complete work on schedule, be able to work independently as well as on a team, and promote the principles and professionalism of the company.

EDUCATION- Minimum of High School Diploma

EXPERIENCE-Customer Service and Laboratory experience is recommended, but not required.

COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE SKILLS-Must be computer literate and experienced in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel). Proficient in the Windows environment and use of Internet E-mail.

OTHER SKILLS-Must be organized. Must have good written and oral communication skill (English)Must manage multiple projects with minimal supervision. Must be able to work flexible hours, as required. Work on weekends if needed. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. Must be able to work under timely conditions. Must be able to handle coolers/samples appropriately and safely. Must have valid drivers license and a good driving record.

WORKING CONDITIONS-Work will occur in a laboratory, office and field environment. Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment including, but not limited to eye safety glasses, gloves, and other personal protective equipment. The employee may be required to stand, walk or move to various locations around the office and laboratory. This includes but is not limited to shelving and retrieving samples from walk-in coolers. At the office, this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. Extensive local travelling is required.

WORK AUTHORIZATION-This position requires proof of United States citizenship or authorization to work in the United States.

UNPLANNED ACTIVITIES-This position requires flexibility and adaptability. There will be tasks assigned that are outside of this job description from time to time.
