Position Description

The Field Service Engineer performs troubleshooting, servicing, assembly, and repair of Flash-Butt Welding products at customer sites and at the Kansas City production facility. This position ensures products are manufactured correctly and operate in accordance with build specifications and quality requirements. This position will be responsible for reinforcing a strong culture of safety and ensuring performance goals are met.

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Coordinate with management to ensure a thorough understanding of proposed manufacturing and repair projects, timelines, priorities, resources, and budget requirements.

• Troubleshoot effectively over the phone to resolve equipment breakdowns quickly and effectively.

• Work closely with customers to understand and repair all repair requests.

• Take responsibility for ensuring welding equipment is functioning properly and Quality Assurance processes are in effect.

• Conduct technical and operational training at customer sites.

• Enforce and maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as all federal, state, and local employment and safety statutes

• Assist production shop as needed to produce and function test new equipment.

• Make safety a priority consideration with all actions taken within the department.

• Maintain the physical condition of the production area and machinery by inspecting equipment, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and orderliness by enforcing 5S procedures

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Technical or related or equivalent experience is required

• Approximately 5 years’ experience in industrial equipment repair or manufacturing

• Experience with Flash-Butt Welding equipment is

• A solid background and experience in the railroad industry, technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and good communication skills are highly valued and is

• Demonstrated ability utilizing problem-solving skills, within a production environment,

• Must have the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of management & subject matter experts

• Knowledge of repair operations including safety, quality, productivity, inventory management, equipment reliability, scheduling, shift staffing, and environmental compliance

  • Up to 50% Travel
