Position Overview:
Our Service team has created new positions to accommodate continued sales growth. You will join a diverse, committed group of colleagues. The Field Service Engineer will maintain, repair, certify, and install Fischer X-ray fluorescence (XRF) equipment, hardness (nanoindentation), and Fischer’s line of Tactile test methods. This position will be based in the Windsor, CT, area and will support Fischer’s customers potential in the USA.
Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree in electronics, 2-year technician school certificate, or BS Degree.
- A minimum of 2 years’ work experience troubleshooting electronic equipment.
- Experience with laboratory measurement systems and/or medical diagnostic equipment.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to travel, including overnight.
- Capable of independent troubleshooting and system diagnostics with schematics and mechanical diagrams.
- Familiar with typical electronic diagnostic test methods and equipment, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.
- Ability to work with standard hand tools, soldering equipment, etc.
- Computer hardware and software skills.
- Mechanical aptitude is essential.
- Able to lift 50 pounds.
- Clean driving record.
- U.S. citizenship is required.

Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
Perform tasks associated with the testing and repair of X-ray equipment and other Fischer instruments.
Alert the supervisor to any irregularities that could affect the instrument's quality, safety, or performance.
Perform on-site instrument certifications.
Perform installation and training of Fischer instrumentation.
Travel approximately 80%, by car or air, to customer locations for installation and repair as needed. This percentage may vary based on the Technician’s station location.
Interface directly with customers to provide telephone, email, and face-to-face product support.
Perform all necessary paperwork and data entry for the Service department.
Perform other duties as requested by the Service Manager.
