Service Engineer — Mechanical Bias\n\nSalary: £40,000 – £45,000 (OTE up to £55,000)\n\nLocation: Within 1 hour of MK postcode\n\nHours: 40 hours per week (Time and a half over 40 hours; double time weekends, optional)\n\nPackage includes:\n\nCompany van\n6% matched pension\n25 days annual leave plus bank holidays\nMinimal nights away (approximately 15 per year)\nAnnual fully expensed Christmas trip (partners invited)\nAnnual company bonus (£2,000 – £4,000)\nCompany Overview\n\nOur client is a leading global OEM specialising in the manufacture of high-quality food processing and packaging machinery, including mixers, grinders, slicers, and weigh-price labellers. With 120 staff in the UK and a strong brand reputation, the company is expanding its service team in line with strong business performance and continued growth.\n\nRole Overview\n\nAs a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, service, installation, and commissioning of machinery at client sites. This role requires a mechanically biased engineer with a strong understanding of electrical systems, capable of working independently and delivering exceptional customer service.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nService, repair, and commission food processing and packaging equipment\nDiagnose mechanical faults on components such as bearings, shafts, gearboxes, pulleys, and chains\nCarry out electrical fault finding, including reading and interpreting electrical drawings\nPerform software updates, change IO cards, and configure HMIs (inputs and outputs)\nInstall new machinery and support commissioning activities\nDeliver scheduled preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns\nWork in food production environments, including wet and cold conditions\nTypically one service visit per day\nMaintain professional and proactive communication with customers and internal teams\nCandidate Profile\n\nStrong mechanical background with electrical understanding\nPrevious experience in FMCG, food processing, packaging, material handling, or capital equipment involving conveyors\nBackground as a service engineer or maintenance engineer\nConfident working in food industry environments\nStrong diagnostic and problem-solving skills\nAbility to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team\nFlexible for occasional overnight stays (approximately 15 nights per year)\nQualifications\n\nCity & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, or substantial practical experience\n\nExperience with capital equipment, ideally within the food industry\n\nWhy Join?\n\nThis is an opportunity to join a highly respected and growing company offering excellent support, strong benefits, and the chance to work with advanced machinery in a thriving industry.\n\nTo apply for this position, please contact Daniel Walton on (phone number removed)\n\nSER-IN
