Birdi Systems is seeking a Fiber Optic Communications Construction Manager to lead the oversight and implementation of large-scale fiber optic communication projects.

In this role, you will manage contractor performance, field inspections, and testing to ensure all systems meet technical, safety, and operational standards. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in rail communications systems, optical fiber networks, and construction management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and evaluate contractor submittals, RFIs, and design documentation for compliance.
• Conduct field inspections to ensure installation quality and adherence to safety requirements.
• Manage project changes, budgets, and schedules.
• Supervise and verify testing of fiber optic backbone systems for performance and reliability.
• Prepare detailed weekly and monthly progress reports for stakeholders.
• Lead coordination meetings and ensure effective communication between project teams.

Qualifications:

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Communication, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years in fiber optic project implementation.
• 10+ years in rail communications maintenance (with Associate degree) or 5+ years (with Bachelor’s degree).
• 5+ years managing fiber optic construction, testing, and maintenance.
• 5+ years of construction management experience on infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of fiber optic network design and rail communication systems (CTS).
• Experience managing submittals, RFIs, and field documentation.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with contractors, engineers, and agency stakeholders.

Skills:

• Experience with transit or rail infrastructure projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for field and coordination challenges.
