SUMMARY:
The Environmental Scientist III position at Providence is responsible for ecological and environmental compliance, as well as comprehensive project management business development.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
- Working knowledge of federal, state and/or local regulations (e.g., Clean Water Act, Section 10 of the Rivers, and Harbors Act, etc.) Focusing primarily in the Gulf Coast Region.
- B.S. (M.S. preferred) in Biology, Forestry, Fisheries, Wildlife Biology, Ecology, or closely related field.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in federal/state regulatory compliance
- Proficient in use of Trimble units or similar GPS technologies.
- Demonstrated written communication and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Endangered Species Act Section 7 and Section 10 processes.
- Proven knowledge of general state/federal permitting processes to assist with proposals and project management.
- Ability to provide cooperation and coordination with other Providence media groups.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage incoming projects from proposal phase through closeout, including preparing cost estimates, scheduling, and completing necessary field work (or managing others) and subsequent reporting, permit application preparation, client interaction, reviewing and approving invoices and project close out.
- Experience in conducting biological surveys including but not limited to: wetland delineations, habitat assessments, and sensitive species surveys. Reporting experience, specifically, wetland data reports/jurisdictional determination requests and sensitive species reports, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Section 10/404)/ Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, Office of Coastal Management Coastal Use permitting, and ecological monitoring reports.
- Coordinate with clients and agency personnel on a daily basis.
- Take a leadership role in business development, including generation of new client relationships and nurturing existing client relationships.
- Safety compliance with all client and internal requirements/training.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to travel frequently and on short notice.
