Job Description

Are you an experienced EHS professional ready to take the lead in shaping a culture of safety, sustainability, and operational excellence?

We’re looking for a dynamic Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to join a global, plastics manufacturing business in Castleford. This is a hands-on, strategic role where you’ll have the autonomy to make a real impact — developing best-in-class EHS programmes, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance across all areas of their operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures aligned with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• Lead site audits, inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring proactive identification of hazards and non-conformances.
• Drive incident investigations to true root cause and develop corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor and report on EHS performance metrics, identifying trends and leading improvement initiatives.
• Deliver engaging EHS training and awareness programmes across all levels of the organisation.
• Support the integration of EHS considerations into operational and strategic projects.
• Stay current with regulatory changes and industry best practices to maintain ongoing compliance.

About You

You’ll be a confident and proactive EHS professional who leads by example and thrives on driving positive change.

• Qualification in Occupational Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
• Professional certification (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of UK EHS legislation, standards, and compliance frameworks.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills across all levels.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and deliver actionable insights.
• Experience within waste management or recycling operations.
• Understanding of EA (Environment Agency) permitting and compliance.
