Engineering Technician
The Engineering Technician partners with Manufacturing Engineers (MEs) and Quality Engineers (QEs) to create, maintain, and control all engineering, quality and production documentation. This role ensures that process changes, best practices, and quality requirements translate into clear, up-to-date work instructions and technical notices that drive consistency, efficiency, and compliance on the shop floor. The Engineering Technician is a core member of the Operations Team—alongside the Product Line Managers, Operations Engineers (OEs), Manufacturing Engineers (MEs), and Quality Engineers (QE)—contributing to an overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) goal of 85% or higher.
Essential Functions
- Draft, review, and publish work instructions (BPPs/SOPs) for manufacturing and inspection processes.
- Generate and manage Technical Change Notices (TCNs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), ensuring timely revision tracking and distribution.
- Collaborate on A3 problem-solving and Charter projects by documenting process improvements, root-cause analyses, and corrective actions.
- Support disposition of suspect parts, coordinating with ME/QE teams to meet 24-hour turnaround targets.
- Assist with New Product Introduction (NPI) by translating process designs into controlled documents.
- Update quality documents, including but not limited to process flow diagrams, inspection plans, control plans and PFMEAs.
- Archive and organize engineering and quality records in the document management system.
- Facilitate document control audits and continuous improvement of documentation practices.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong technical writing skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- Basic blueprint reading and foundational GD&T understanding.
- Familiarity with CNC machining of tight-tolerance parts and lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to clearly communicate updates and escalate issues.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with a self-starter mindset.
- Comfortable navigating a fast paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree
- 2-3 years of relevant experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Work Environment:
Climate-controlled manufacturing facility with a moderate noise level. In this position, you are working a full-time schedule, mainly in an office environment, with some time in a manufacturing setting.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday
7am - 3:30 pm, with some flexibility
