Engineering Manager
Job Description
A well-established and innovative manufacturing organization is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and drive engineering initiatives across product development and sustaining engineering. This leader will oversee a talented team, ensuring project delivery meets business objectives related to quality, cost, and time-to-market.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and hands-on problem solver who can bridge technical expertise with strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration. This role will also partner closely with commercial leadership to support customer needs and continuous product improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic planning and execution for product development initiatives
- Define performance objectives for the engineering team and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Monitor industry trends to maintain a competitive edge in design and technology
- Hire, mentor, and manage engineering staff; provide coaching and hands-on technical guidance
- Oversee all aspects of product design to ensure efficiency, quality, and manufacturability
- Champion continuous improvement by assessing team performance and streamlining engineering processes
- Collaborate with manufacturing to improve processes related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and cash
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant regulatory standards (e.g., UL, NSF, DOE, EPA)
- Provide cost estimates and technical input for new product development and customization requests
- Reduce development cycle time and enhance engineering KPIs through data-driven decision-making
- Own and manage value analysis/value engineering (VAVE) and warranty project roadmaps
- Lead efforts to resolve field quality issues and drive long-term product improvements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering ; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- 10+ years of experience in product development within a manufacturing environment
- Proven track record of leading teams and managing engineering projects from concept to launch
