Overview
As the development engineer in Thermal Systems, you will play a pivotal role in testing, analyzing, and optimizing thermal and HVAC systems for EV and EREV vehicles. Working with a talented team, you will ensure the efficiency, performance, and reliability of thermal components. This role requires strong leadership, deep thermal engineering knowledge, and a passion for electric vehicle technology.
What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand revolutionizing the electric pickup truck & rugged SUV market. Your responsibilities include:
Thermal System Development:
Lead development of thermal management solutions for powertrain, cabin, and under-hood systems.
Proficient in refrigerant and thermal system hardware/components, especially heat pumps and battery cooling.
Knowledge of vehicle development cycle and ability to establish and manage development plans.
Simulation and Analysis:
Establish detailed simulations to optimize thermal component performance and efficiency.
Implement design improvements based on simulation results to enhance system reliability.
Teamwork:
Foster a collaborative, innovative work environment.
Comfortable working with ambiguity and unknowns.
Prototyping and Testing:
Coordinate testing of thermal components on bench and full vehicle.
Instrumentation of hardware and software.
Analyze test data and adjust designs to improve system performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work with power electronics, battery, control systems engineers, and manufacturing teams.
Support production and assembly of thermal components.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare design documentation, specifications, and reports.
Maintain records of design changes and iterations.
Location & Travel Expectations
Based in Novi, Michigan.
Regular in-person meetings and events required.
Occasional travel for company events.
What you’ll bring

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or thermal engineering or related field.
At least 3 years’ experience in thermal systems testing (engine cooling, battery cooling, or thermal protection).
Proficiency in simulation tools like Amesim and GT Suite.
Hands-on testing experience; familiarity with CAN/LIN/Ethernet protocols and instrumentation software (Canape, Canalyzer, Vehicle Spy, Inca).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Pay Transparency
Full-time exempt role with base salary and performance bonus. Salary range: $110,000 - $135,000, based on skills and experience. Initial salary offers will be within this range.
