About The Role

Drive the future of autonomous delivery! As a Motor Drive Power Electronics Engineer, you will design efficient, compact, and reliable power systems, optimizing motor control and energy efficiency for robotic applications. You will report to the Lead of our Core Engineering team in San Francisco. This role is in-office.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and enhance power electronic systems such as inverters, DC-DC converters, motor drives, and high-power systems.

Develop and implement control algorithms for AC and DC motors, including BLDC, PMSM, and induction motors.

Conduct system modeling, simulation, and analysis using tools like MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE, or similar.

Create analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits for power converters and motor control systems.

Build prototypes and perform testing to validate motor drives, controllers, and power systems.

Collaborate on thermal management strategies for high-power components.

Ensure designs meet EMI/EMC standards like CISPR25 and safety regulations.

Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware issues to ensure reliability and performance.

Work with firmware, mechanical, and systems teams for seamless integration.

Qualifications

Experience in automotive, aerospace, or renewable energy sectors.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

5+ years in power electronics design and motor control.

Strong understanding of motor control techniques such as FOC.

Proficiency with circuit design and simulation tools (e.g., Altium, LTSpice, MATLAB/Simulink).

Experience with high-voltage, high-power design and protection strategies.

Knowledge of power semiconductors (IGBTs, MOSFETs, SiC, GaN).

Hands-on PCB design experience with EMI/EMC considerations.

Knowledge of thermal management for power devices.

Additional Information

This role is based in San Francisco, in-office. Compensation ranges from $161,800 to $238,000 USD, with opportunities for equity, comprehensive benefits, and paid time off.
