Job Description

Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer (Building Services)\nLocation: London\nSalary: £70K - £75K\n\nThe Role:\n\n * Design electrical systems for CAT A & CAT B office fit-out projects\n\n * Produce detailed design drawings including lighting, small power, containment, distribution, and specialist systems\n\n * Support Preconstruction, Contracts, and Project Managers throughout the design process (RIBA Stage 3–4)\n\n * Develop and coordinate Stage 4 technical designs through to construction issue\n\n * Carry out load calculations, cable sizing, and equipment selection in line with regulations\n\n * Prepare technical specifications, design documentation, and reports\n\n * Manage Contractor Design Portion (CDP) packages and coordinate specialist subcontractor designs\n\n * Attend design and coordination meetings with clients, consultants, and internal teams\n\n * Support value engineering exercises to improve cost efficiency without compromising quality\n\n * Ensure all designs comply with BS 7671 and relevant British Standards\n\nThe Company:\n\n * Established electrical design & build contractor operating across London and the Southeast\n\n * Specialists in CAT A & CAT B commercial office fit-out projects\n\n * Deliver electrical packages including lighting, power, containment, fire alarms, and data cabling\n\n * Strong reputation for quality delivery, repeat business, and client satisfaction\n\n * Consistent pipeline of commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects\n\nThe Ideal Candidate:\n\n * 3–5 years’ experience as an Electrical Design Engineer (building services / contracting background)\n\n * Strong understanding of commercial electrical design and systems\n\n * Experience working on projects up to £3m–£5m\n\n * Proficient in AutoCAD (Revit desirable)\n\n * Strong knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations)\n\n * Experience working within a D&B environment and coordinating with delivery teams\n\nWhat You’ll Get:\n\n * Circa £70K salary\n\n * Company pension scheme\n\n * Ongoing training and development opportunities\n\n * Clear career progression within a growing business
