Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and organized individual to join our team as a Dispatcher. As the Dispatcher, you will play a crucial role in coordinating the efficient delivery of lumber, hardware & building materials to our customers. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage logistics effectively.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Coordinate Deliveries:
• Schedule and coordinate the timely delivery of lumber, hardware & building materials to customers, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Optimize delivery routes for maximum efficiency, considering factors such as traffic, fuel efficiency, and delivery time windows.
Communication:
• Communicate with delivery drivers to provide them with necessary information and instructions.
• Address customer inquiries and concerns related to deliveries promptly and professionally.
• Keep customers informed about the status of their orders and any potential delays.
Customer Service:
• Provide excellent customer service through proactive communication to ensure satisfaction with the delivery process.
Logistics Management:
• Collaborate with yard staff to ensure accurate picking and loading of orders.
• Monitor and track inventory levels to facilitate accurate order fulfillment.
Documentation:
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including order details, delivery times, and any issues encountered.
• Generate necessary paperwork and documentation for each delivery.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or relevant experience is a plus.
• 3+ years previous experience in dispatching or logistics
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Familiarity with lumber, hardware & building products is a plus.
• Proficient in using computer systems and basic software applications.
Additional Responsibilities (optional section to add):
• Problem Solving: Proactively resolve scheduling conflicts, delivery issues, or unexpected challenges with a sense of urgency and professionalism.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with sales, yard, and operations teams to ensure smooth order flow and excellent customer experience.
• Safety Focus: Support and reinforce driver and yard safety protocols; ensure all DOT and company safety standards are followed in delivery operations.
• Technology Utilization: Use dispatching software, GPS tracking, and inventory systems to manage daily operations efficiently.
