Director of Data Science
Job Description As a Data Science Director, you will establish and drive the vision for digital process and transformation in the operations. In this role, you will collaborate and/or lead a team involving areas of 4IR technologies, supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, development, etc to solve sophisticated problems with solutions. The focus area includes but is not limited to:Establish and drive enterprise roadmap and strategy that will propel the operations to be the most advanced global operations in the industryEnabling sophisticated modeling and algorithm across a broad spectrum of problems/opportunities to accelerate technology solutions and decision makingUse diverse data streams for infusing autonomous intelligence into operations to increase agility and resilienceSuccessful candidate will have a successful track record of digital transformation and thought-leader. The individual is comfortable working in a multifaceted, iterative environment that also affords the stability of a global, well-established technology company. You will enable a broad focus across technology development initiatives exploring capabilities with artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, cognitive computing, machine learning, optimization, etc.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Establish and drive Digital Innovation roadmap and strategy using artificial intelligence, cognitive computing, physics-based modeling, data analytics, RPA, etcInteract with functional subject matter experts from Supply Chain, Process, Design, Development, Product Engineering, and Systems teams, to identify and deliver solutions and discover areas of the business that can be made autonomous and smarterPartner with various stakeholders in the business to identify capabilities and deploy solutions that generate high financial, operational, and sustainability impactProvide guidance on innovative analytical tools, methodologies, applications, and technologiesInteract with business partners and lead discussions to understand the critical to success data needs and provide guidance on both technical and best practice processes.Provide thought leadership and participate with projects that involve any of the upstream or downstream processes.Engage and lead strategic projects with multi-functional internal and external team.QualificationsREQUIRED:PhD or Master’s degree in an Engineering or Science field; additional informative experience in Data Science preferredAt least 5-10 years of related experience in management or thought-leadership positions with excellent knowledge in data science and business acumenExperience in a large technology company in process technology, product technology, design, or systems level developmentPREFERRED: Consistent track record forming successful teams from scratch, managing under tight deadlines, and providing mentorship on strategiesDeep experience in solving business problems across functions by translating them into solutions with measurable high business valueSolid understanding and hands-on experience with Machine Learning/AI, Robotics, Cognitive computing, optimization, etcExperience crafting a Data Science Roadmap and executing the vision behind itExperience in solution architecture and its technology stacks and components. Familiarity with common data modeling approaches and a good understanding of how to deal with various datatypes, larger data sets, and parallel computing problems.Experience leading projects that span the fields of data science and data engineering using cluster computing environments such as Spark, Hadoop, cloud, and othersPassion to teach others about data science and continue to learn new techniques. Monitor the market for emerging technologies for adoption and work on proof of concepts then scale for full deployment.SKILLS:Excellent written and verbal English-language communication and presentation skillsDemonstrated expertise in managing impact through others by leading full life cycle engagement from strategy to design and implementationDemonstrated ability to collaborate with teams and key partners, both in and outside the organization, to develop highly effective working relationshipsExpert knowledge of statistical programming languages such as R, Python, and SQLStrong analytical skillsResults-oriented, with growth and imaginative mindset and strong dedication and passion to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
