Lead Marine is currently looking for Journeymen level Diesel Mechanics to work on large slow stroke generators in the San Diego area.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering technical support for the following Diesel Components and Systems:
    • Diesel Engine Couplings
    • Clutches
    • Lubricating Oil Systems and associated components
    • Combustion Air systems and associated components
  • Perform Diesel Engine Routine Inspections, Ready-to-Start Inspections, Post-Repair Inspections and Formal Periodic Assessments (FPAs)
  • Conducts ship visits to provide technical guidance for repairs, troubleshooting or testing as requested for urgent or routine requests.
  • Uses technical knowledge and experience to troubleshoot and identify causes for equipment/system failure to the component level.
  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of general marine propulsion and or power experience in operations, maintenance, repair, or inspections.
  • A minimum of 3 of the 5 years of experience will be in specialized marine propulsion or power , maintenance, & repair.
  • Knowledge of proper use of diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to identify technical problems and solutions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be flexible.

 

Qualifications

  • A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience as an engine mechanic or comparable role, required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in marine applications, required.
  • Prior military expeditionary equipment maintenance experience.
  • A graduate of CUMMINS Insite Familiarization course and hold an Insite Qualification & Tier 3 QSB/QSC Engine Qualifications and/or on job experience working with MTU Diesel Generators
