TRC Talent Solutions is partnering with a global leader in automotive and heavy equipment manufacturing to expand their Controls Engineering team at a newly launched, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Gainesville, GA. Summary

The Controls Engineer will support industrial automation and manufacturing control systems within a fast-paced production environment. Openings are available at both junior and senior levels. This role focuses heavily on PLC programming, troubleshooting, automation optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives supporting production operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial control systems and PLC programs
  • Support manufacturing automation systems, operational procedures, and maintenance protocols
  • Serve as a technical resource for Manufacturing, Engineering, IT, and Maintenance teams
  • Create and modify ladder logic programs and troubleshoot automation issues
  • Read, interpret, and develop electrical drawings and technical documentation
  • Support automation projects including vendor coordination, implementation, and system upgrades
  • Develop control solutions focused on safety, productivity, and quality improvements
  • Lead or support continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives
  • Support Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and related operational technologies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Software Development, IT, or related field
  • Junior Level: , co-op, or project experience with Allen Bradley or Siemens PLCs
  • Senior Level: 4.5+ years of Controls Engineering / PLC programming experience in manufacturing environments
  • Hands-on experience with Allen Bradley (ControlLogix / CompactLogix), Siemens PLCs, and VFDs
  • Experience with Rockwell software including Studio 5000, RSLogix, and FactoryTalk
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills within industrial automation environments
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally on the production floor
  • Experience with MES platforms, Keyence safety devices, Mitsubishi GX Works2, or Autodesk tools is a plus
