Contracts Manager - Civil Engineering\n York\n\nI'm working with a well-established, self-delivering civil engineering contractor with an excellent reputation across the North of England. This business is known for delivering technically complex infrastructure and groundwork projects across a range of sectors.\n Due to continued growth and a strong order book, they're looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee a portfolio of civil engineering projects including\n\nSection 278 / Section 38 works\nRoads, drainage, and associated infrastructure for new developments\nGroundworks and enabling packages for commercial and industrial clients\nPublic realm improvements and streetscape enhancements\nUtilities, ducting, and drainage works in both urban and rural settingsThis role offers a clear path for progression within a well-run, people-focused company. It also involves some responsibility for business development, particularly in maintaining client relationships and identifying repeat and framework-based work.\n\nThe Role\n As Contracts Manager, you'll be responsible for the successful delivery of multiple civil engineering contracts, ensuring works are completed to a high standard, on time, and within budget.

You'll be a key figure in the operations team, liaising with site staff, commercial teams, clients, and external stakeholders.\n\nLead the delivery of several live civil engineering projects across the North\nManage project teams including Site Managers, Engineers, and Supervisors\nEnsure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards\nLiaise directly with clients, consultants, and commercial staff to maintain excellent working relationships\nOversee cost control, forecasting, resource allocation, and contract administration (primarily under NEC)\nAttend progress meetings, manage programmes, and mitigate risks\nProvide input into tenders, planning, and value engineering opportunities\nSupport business development by identifying pipeline opportunities and nurturing existing client accounts\n About You\n\nProven experience as a Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager in civil engineering\nStrong understanding of NEC contracts and commercial principles\nBackground in delivering infrastructure, groundworks, or public realm schemes\nAbility to manage multiple projects and site teams concurrently\nExcellent leadership, communication, and client management skills\nConfident in contributing to business development activities\nRelevant qualifications (e.g. HNC / Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management)\nSMSTS, First Aid, and Black or Platinum CSCS\nFull UK driving licence \n\nCalibre Search promote equality in the workplace and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified candidates regardless of their , race, , /beliefs, or age.
