What you’ll be\ndoing:

\n

  • Acting as the electrical SME providing technical\nleadership and guidance to a range of cross discipline internal and\nexternal stakeholders including equipment\nsuppliers
  • \n

  • Managing the electrical interface with the\nelectrical power system ensuring that a best for programme approach\nis\nadopted
  • \n

  • Technical ownership of the end to end delivery of\nkey technology readiness projects essential in demonstrating an\nappropriate level of maturity is achieved in the end product prior\nto platform\nintegration
  • \n

  • Supporting technical delivery of facility\nrequirements needed to deliver technology readiness projects\nincluding the facilities to support the end product verification\nand validation\nactivities
  • \n

  • Undertaking technical risk analysis and developing\nrisk mitigation plans in support of equipment delivery into the\nSSNA\nplatform
  • \n

  • Supporting the development and resilience planning\nfor the SSNA Steam IDTs engineering team ensuring succession\nplanning is in place in support of an enduring SQEP\ncapability
  • \n

  • Independent governance, authoring and approval of\ntechnical\nartefacts
  • \n

Your skills and\nexperiences:

\n

Essential

\n

  • Relevant 1st degree in Electrical Engineering BSc\n(Hons) / BEng (Hons) / MEng\n(Hons)
  • \n

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working toward\nChartership
  • \n

  • Knowledge of the integration of power electronic\nconversion equipment into power system designs (Inverters,\nrectifiers, Active Front End, filter\ninteractions)
  • \n

  • Knowledge and experience of key Power system\ninterface requirements (power system stability, power quality and\nprotection\nco-ordination)
  • \n

  • Experience in developing and delivering power\nsystem / equipment level verification and validation plans\n(including technology readiness level\nstrategies)
  • \n

  • Knowledge of the complete engineering life cycle of\ndelivery an equipment or system in a complex engineering\nenvironment with many competing requirements (requirement\ngeneration through to test and\ncommissioning)
  • \n

Desirable

\n

  • Relevant 2nd specialised degree or further\neducation in Electrical Engineering (power systems / power\nelectronics / electrical machine design) e.g. MSc(Eng) / MPhil(Eng)\n/ PhD /\nEngD
  • \n

  • Knowledge of permanent magnet rotating\nmachines
  • \n

  • Knowledge of Power System Analysis of AC and DC\nsystems and modelling of and control: Generators, AVRs,\nGovenors/Speed\ncontrollers
  • \n

  • Knowledge of the interface requirements of power\nsystem control and instrumentation for key equipment’s and\ncomponents within a power system\ndesign
  • \n

  • Submarine operator\nexperience
  • \n

The SSNA Steam Integrated Delivery\nTeam\n(SIDT):

\n

You will work as the Electrical Subject Matter\nExpert (SME) within SSNA’s Steam Integrated Delivery Team (SIDT).\nThe SIDT is tasked with delivering key equipment into the SSNA\nplatform, which is novel to a submarine environment. Due to the\nnovelty of the equipment there is a need to support equipment\ndelivery with additional parallel technology maturity enablement\nplans. This is a unique and exciting role that offers the\nopportunity to shape how the SIDT delivers the challenge! The role\noffers significant development in all areas from requirement\ngeneration through to development of verification and validation\nplans along with the facilities required to enable timely equipment\ndelivery and parallel technology\nrealisation.
