Position Overview
Long Island company seeks a Construction Site Superintendent to join our team! oversees all day-to-day operations on construction sites, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to quality standards and design specifications. This role serves as the primary on-site leader, coordinating subcontractors, managing field staff, enforcing safety compliance, and acting as the liaison between project management, clients, and trades.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Oversight:
- Supervise all on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, safety codes, and company standards.
- Manage daily site operations, including scheduling, workforce coordination, and subcontractor supervision.
- Scheduling & Coordination:
- Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with project managers and subcontractors.
- Anticipate and mitigate potential delays by proactively adjusting workflows and resources.
- Quality & Safety:
- Enforce safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA and company regulations.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, site inspections, and toolbox talks.
- Ensure quality workmanship and adherence to design and specification requirements.
- Communication & Reporting:
- Serve as the primary point of contact on-site for clients, inspectors, engineers, and project managers.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, progress photos, and project documentation.
- Report project progress, challenges, and potential risks to senior management.
- Problem-Solving:
- Identify and resolve field issues quickly and effectively to prevent project delays.
- Coordinate design changes, RFIs (Requests for Information), and site instructions.
- Resource Management:
- Manage labor, equipment, and materials efficiently to maintain productivity and cost control.
- Verify deliveries, inventory, and material quantities.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field .
- Experience: Minimum 5–10 years of experience in commercial or residential construction with at least 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
- Certifications ():
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Procore, Bluebeam, or similar project management software proficiency
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, codes, and building systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project schedules.
- Proficiency in project management and scheduling software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Buildertrend).
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
- Full-time, on-site position.
- Requires frequent walking, standing, and exposure to outdoor elements.
- May include occasional night or weekend work depending on project schedule.
