Role – Civil Engineer
Location – UK
We are supporting a leading UK engineering contractor delivering major EPC projects across the power, water, utilities, and energy infrastructure sectors. They are seeking a Design-Focused Civil Engineer to join their engineering team on a 12-month contract.
Scope of Work
*
Lead and support civil design activities for multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, including power facilities, water treatment works, energy storage installations, and process engineering sites.

Produce and review civil design packages covering earthworks, reinforced concrete foundations, drainage networks, chambers, ducting routes, access roads, retaining structures, bunds, and general site infrastructure.
*
Prepare detailed engineering calculations, drawings, models, and technical specifications in line with UK and Eurocode standards.
*
Develop 2D/3D civil models, site layouts, and design drawings using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit.
*
Carry out drainage and hydraulic modelling using MicroDrainage or similar tools.
*
Support structural assessments and foundation design using packages such as STAAD, Tekla, or Robot Structural Analysis (where required).

Coordinate designs with MEICA, electrical, structural, and process engineering disciplines to ensure fully integrated solutions.
*
Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle including concept, FEED, detailed design, construction support, and commissioning.
*
Assess buildability, sequence considerations, and temporary works requirements to ensure deliverable, safe, and cost-effective designs.
*
Review subcontractor/supplier technical information and ensure compliance with project design requirements.
*
Support preparation of tender documentation, BoQs, design reports, and technical submissions.
*
Respond to site queries, provide design clarifications, and update drawings or specifications as required during construction.
*
Contribute to CDM design risk assessments, HAZOP/HAZCON processes, and project close-out including as-built documentation.
Experience Required
*
Proven civil engineering experience within the power, water, utilities, or process engineering sectors, ideally with EPC or MEICA-integrated project exposure.
*
Strong technical background in civil and structural design including earthworks, reinforced concrete, drainage, ducting, and site infrastructure.
*
Proficiency with civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroDrainage, STAAD, Tekla, or similar tools.
*
Strong understanding of UK design standards, Eurocodes, CDM Regulations, and relevant industry guidance.
*
Ability to prepare, review, and check engineering calculations, drawings, models, and technical documentation.
*
Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and client representatives.
These will be 12-month renewable contracts and are outside IR35.
