Job Description

The Company\nA leading engineering solutions provider, specialising in components and services, is looking for a Technical Field Based Business Development Manager to cover the Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, or Berkshire region.\n\nRole Overview\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for growing and maintaining sales within a defined territory, while expanding the portfolio of products and services sold to both new and existing accounts. The role involves building strong relationships, increasing market penetration, and acting as a trusted technical advisor to customers.\nThis is a customer-facing position that requires someone commercially driven, technically minded, and capable of working independently while also contributing as part of a wider sales team.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n• Prospect for and secure new business opportunities.\n• Prepare thoroughly for customer meetings with relevant samples, technical knowledge, and background research.\n• Manage and develop key accounts strategically to maximise growth.\n• Ensure regular and meaningful contact with customers across the territory.\n• Identify customer needs and present tailored solutions.\n• Achieve sales and activity targets, including journey planning and call preparation.\n• Implement a robust territory plan to maximise efficiency and coverage.\n• Build strong, long-term customer relationships.\n• Provide detailed call reports and maintain accurate records of all customer activity.\n\nThe Candidate\nWell-experienced in a sales engineering position.\nMust come from a highly technical environment.\nExperience selling solutions to manufacturers.\nProven track record in business development within the MoD or defence.\nBritish citizenship is required due to contracts in sensitive industries.\nIdeally holds an engineering-related qualification.\nSelf-motivated and confident working remotely.\nTarget-driven with excellent communication skills.\nFull UK driving licence.\nStrong relationship-building skills and commercial awareness.\n\nPackage & Benefits\nSalary: £60,000 – £65,000 (depending on experience and qualifications).\nUncapped OTE.\nCompany car.\nOngoing technical training and development.\nPrivate medical insurance.\nFlexible working hours.\nLife insurance.\nDiscounted gym membership
