The Automation Technician is responsible for maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of the automated equipment with specific emphasis on the paint line robotics, paint delivery and change system, self-powered carts, scanning system, cure cycles, and the integration of the entire system. This includes continuous system operation by programming modalities, adjusting settings to achieve desired paint finish and maximum system capability, and repairing, modifying, or replacing non-functioning components and subsystems.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the efficient and integrated operation of the automated paint line system, subsystems, and components.
- Ensure equipment up time through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and resolution of system or component faults.
- Ability to remove, replace, and reload software parameters for the programmable logic controllers.
- Diagnose and replace as required mechanical and electrical components.
- Coordinate with manufacturers, industry experts, and management to troubleshoot issues and gain maximum efficiency, continuous improvement and high-quality outputs.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Report to management on specific problems, suggested actions, and recommended repairs and modifications.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Highly disciplined work ethic and follow-up
- Very high attention to detail
- Use of typical shop maintenance equipment and hand tools

Education and Experience:
- Experience with automated systems in a manufacturing environment. Paint line automation experience desired but not required.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical diagrams, and parts breakdowns.
- Working understanding of PLC controlled machinery.
- Knowledge of MS windows-based HMI control of automated equipment
- Experience with pressure-based systems, hoses, fittings, etc.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical ability to perform work requiring bending, lifting, and moving components
