Automation Engineer (DMD)
Job Summary:Responsible for implementing, supporting and maintaining the suite of Construction Automation applications to assist project site. Configures BSAPs to meet project requirements in coordination with GBU automation function. This position is for PMC scope of work. Job Dimensions: Supervision Received Receives operational direction from Lead Automation Engineer and technical guidance from GBU Automation Manager or other assigned supervising manager. Supervision Exercised Provides technical direction to assigned subordinate automation engineers and contractors. Contacts Jobsite contacts are field engineers, superintendents, automation engineers including subcontractors. Major Responsibilities: Works with Lead Automation Engineer to establish requirements for Construction Automation Systems. Construction Automation applications include and is not limited to TEAMWorks, SETROUTE, 3D Model viewer, 4D Model integration, DSC (Material Management), PTR (NCR, RFI, FCD), ITR (Inspection Test Record application tracking), SQL, C++, API, AWP tools, PowerBi, PowerApps. Establishes data requirements to support construction work processes. Coordinates with Energy Construction Automation Function, Design Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls and other departments to establish work process, implementation, enhancement and coordination of automated data transfer between applications. Configures BSAPs to meet project requirements, based on coordination with Energy GBU Automation function. Understands reporting requirements for each application and configure reports accordingly. Ensure reports are accurate reflections of the data and are functioning as intended. Review/trouble-shoot data for accuracy and completeness. Identify and address anomalies and report to the Area Field Engineer Provides ongoing administration to each BSAP. Provides training and technical support to BSAP end users, including field engineering, supervision, administration, project controls and other site personnel. Assist the Lead Automation Engineer by providing training, direction, and support to TEAMWorks and SETROUTE and other tools to administrators who are responsible for data entry and report generation. Education and Experience Requirements: A recognized degree in engineering or scientific discipline. Actual work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the technical knowledge described above. Experience required for this role is minimum 10 years for Level 1 and 15 years for Level 2. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Basics of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience. Basic knowledge of TEAMWorks or equivalent software tracking for construction is required. Experience with other Bechtel Standard applications, including PTR, SETROUTE, BPS is desirable. Ability to track down complex data and engineering issues, evaluate different algorithmic approaches, and analyze data to solve problems. Advanced level capability with MS Excel and Access is required. Extensive knowledge with other database platforms.
