Automated Transit System Project Manager
UNITED STATES (On-Site) – SEATTLE, WA
SALARY: $150,000-175,000 (Salary commensurate with relevant experience, education and professional registration and requires client approval)
Available Position: Lea+Elliott is seeking a qualified automated transit system project manager to support the preliminary design, procurement and implementation oversight of an Automated Transit System project in Seattle.
Tasks may include transit system planning and preliminary design, detailed design review, report preparation, system operation and alternatives analysis, procurement specification document preparation, construction, and testing oversight for a range of transportation systems.

Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience of managing complex transit design and construction projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical () or Civil Engineering (or closely related field)
- Professional Engineering licensure in WA
- Experience in planning, procurement, and construction of Design/Build transit construction projects
- Experience writing technical specifications and performance-based Contract Documents
- Working knowledge of project management and project controls systems
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Proactive in addressing client needs and communicating with client
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
- Ability to independently represent projects in client-facing meetings and workshops
- Leadership skills, detail-oriented, problem solving, initiative and team player experienced with giving and receiving feedback.
- Applicant must be authorized to work in the US
Desired Qualifications:
- Discipline-specific experience (for example, power distribution experience, automated train control experience, SCADA and Communication system experience such as Fiber Optics, Public Address System, CCTV, trainway alignment/facility/vehicle design and construction experience, etc.)
- Experience coordinating fixed facilities infrastructure and transit systems interfaces
- Experience with design and construction change management
- Experience with rail or automated transit system testing, commissioning, and activation
- Knowledge of safety certification requirements and processes or compliance experience with safety oversight and approval agencies
- Cost estimating experience for capital projects
- Experience working in a consulting environment
- Experience working in a client’s office
Responsibilities include:
- Lead project coordination activities to align supplier’s work with key client stakeholders.
- Attend and participate in project-related meetings
- Provide documentation regarding regular progress reporting (daily, weekly, monthly), site reports, areas of safety noncompliance, quality and conformance to specifications, and installation and testing progress.
- Work closely with the Lea+Elliott (L+E) PM, who will provide the necessary technical support through L+E’s network of subject matter experts.
- Support L+E PM on manufacturer disputes, claims and contract management issues including change order review and associated documentation.
- Support risk management identification, tracking and mitigation planning.
- Manage L+E on-site subcontractors during installation, testing and commissioning.
- Coordinate timely communication to all key client stakeholders in the event that supplier work causes any unplanned disruption to STS operations
Installation Phase - Oversight responsibilities to include:
- Lead oversight agent for all equipment installation activities.
- Maintain project correspondence, photographs, logs and other monitoring/tracking records.
- Monitor/review/provide oversight of supplier’s work for compliance with agreed-upon plans, specifications and schedules.
Acceptance Testing and Commissioning Phase - Oversight responsibilities to include:
- Lead oversight agent for all testing activities.
- Perform all necessary tasks to manage and coordinate activities in support of the activation/acceptance of the system on site.
Project Close Out - Oversight responsibilities to include:
- Verification of on-site punch list and close out activities.
